We have chosen to feed our
girls a raw diet, and they've been eating that way since they were little pups. Not only do I firmly believe that this
is the best possible food for them to eat, I also enjoy knowing exactly what they're getting - and watching them eat new
foods is fun too! The girls both love to eat all sorts of things - from watermelon to mangos to blueberries, as well as broccoli,
carrots, and pumpkin. Emma was also fed a raw diet while pregnant, and continues to be fed a raw diet while nursing. The pups
will be weaned onto a raw diet as well. I have provided links below to serve as useful information about what a raw diet is,
and is not. There are many ways to feed a raw diet - ranging from very easy to very hard. We have chosen something more in
the middle. I share the link to the Esmond Rottweilers page in an effort to not reinvent the wheel - they have such wonderful
information there! I used their pregnancy diet for Emma (tweaking it to suit her smaller size) with wonderful results (what
beautiful pups!). I have also found the book "Raw Dog Food" by C.B. MacDonald to be very helpful when I was first
beginning on the journey to feed raw.
I have also included a link to a great site with some positive training
methods that has some valuable information for new (and old!) puppy owners. Check them out for your training needs!
There are also a few links on this page to some great written resources, including The Whole Dog Journal (a great newsletter
that we've been getting since the girls were pups!), the AKC Family dog website, and the AKC Gazette.
Happy
reading - and let me know if you have any suggestions for other resources to list here!
